Welcome to third grade. After a week with your wonderful children, I am extremely excited about this school year. I enjoyed meeting all of you at Open House, and your enthusiasm along with the enthusiasm of your children is greatly appreciated. I will do my best to make sure the excitement for this school year continues through May.
There will be many opportunities for parent participation if your job allows it. I will try to get dates published for those opportunities as soon as possible so that you can plan. Mrs. Smith (Lily’s mom) and Mrs. Warren (Lance’s mom) have bravely volunteered to be our room parents. I am so thankful ladies! As a mom who had a job that made it difficult to participate in class activities with my own children, I am so appreciative. We all know how important you are to our class.
I know that many of you have volunteered to help with copies and other activities, and I am so grateful. I will be contacting you this week to see what is convenient for you. Mrs. Carlson (Kyle’s mom), one of Mountain View’s diligent volunteers, has graciously volunteered to copy and will help me out this week.
Our school volunteers are dedicated, outstanding individuals, and I am always amazed at how much time they so “freely” give to make our school great! By joining PTA and the Foundation, we can help supply them the tools they need to benefit ALL of our children and classes at Mountain View. If you have not had a chance to join and you need a form, please let me know.
I am in need of a volunteer to type in our class information for the school directory. If you would like to do this, please let me know. This is a blue form that you received at Open House. If you can’t remember if you filled it out already, I totally understand. Just let me know, and I can check and send another one if you need it.
Please remember to scroll to the bottom of this page, so that you can register for the blog. This will allow you to automatically receive updates. Also, I will email important information and dates as needed. If you have any questions, please email me. I will respond as soon as possible which is usually in the afternoon or evening.
If you have a transportation change or a message that you need to get to your child during the school day, please call the front office. I try to spend every possible moment interacting with your children, so I may not have time to check my email during the day. Also, if you have a set schedule for your child’s transportation, one note with that schedule is fine. However, if that schedule changes, I will need a note letting me know. If you forget to send a note or your daily plan changes, please call the office so they can let me know.
The front office has requested you check your child out before 2:00 if you are leaving early for an appointment, and please don’t park in the fire lane (red curb) to run inside or you may get a ticket. If you send me a note in the am, I will try my best to have your child packed and ready to go.
Please send a note or write a note in the agenda if your child has difficulty with homework or is unable to return it for any reason. This will allow me to reward him/her for the homework when it is completed. The homework that I send will be reinforcement for the standard that has been taught, so please let me know if your child has difficulty with a skill. Please check the agenda and the reading log and initial both. This lets me know that you are aware of the skills and standards we are working on in class. If your child did summer reading, please send a list of books read, so that they can get a reward. Some of you have already done this.
If your child goes to Target, he/she will not be in my class on Thursdays (see yellow letter). Target students are not required to make up missed class work or complete homework from classes on Target day because they will have Target homework and projects to work on during the year. However, in the past most parents have requested the activities in order to be aware of what was completed that day, so I will send that information home on Friday. It does not need to be returned.
Thank you so much for everything you have sent in this week. If you would like to send snacks for our snack bank or treats like jolly ranchers for our reward jar, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your patience with everything. I wish I had written down all of the hilarious and entertaining comments that students made this week. I can tell by the conversations I have had with them that it is going to be a great and entertaining year. I feel very special to have been selected to work with this class, and as a result, extremely motivated to provide these children with a positive learning experience they will never forget!
Please remember to register at the bottom of the blog because I will be posting curriculum information as soon as possible. Thanks so much for allowing me the opportunity to work with your child.
