Wow, where did January go!?!? With our "snow-cation" in the middle of it, the month flew by! We are working very hard in the classroom and have a lot going on this month! The students are hard at work learning about fractions and decimals, colonization, space, and reading Informational books about Jamestown and the Colonial time period. I hope the students are working just as hard at home learning all about their colony through researching and creating their brochures. I am really looking forward to seeing their brochures when they are complete. Please do not forget that the colonial brochures are due THIS FRIDAY, February 4th!!
Please mark your calendars for Friday, February 11th for Spaghetti Dinner night!! This year will be filled with fun for the whole family all night long. The night kicks off with the play all about monsters and art...performed by our very own students here at Mountain View. Also, the chorus will be performing during dinner as well as several other activities going on throughout the night. I hope that everyone can attend and suppose Relay for Life...I will be there working and hope to see everyone!
Also, do not forgot about our field trip next Monday, February 7th to the Cobb County Youth Museum!! This is one of my favorite field trips where our class becomes the stars and they get to act out scenes from history....it is a great way for the students to learn and bring history alive!! We will be gone from 11:00am-1:45pm. Please make sure that your student is here for the whole day and does not have to leave early.
Please keep encouraging your children to complete their homework everynight!! It is very important that they still continue to read each night and do all of their homework. Especially the math homework, they really need to review what was taught in class that day to make sure that they are understanding the concepts being taught. If they are struggling with their homework at night, please have them come ask me for extra help first thing in the morning!!
I want to welcome our wonderful student teacher, Miss Stephanie Jones. She is from Kennesaw State University and she will be with us full time until May 6th. Each week she will start teaching a new subject and by the beginning of March she will be teaching full time while I observe and help out. We are very excited to have her in our class and looking forward to working with her this semester!
Have a wonderful February and hopefully we will be snow free!!
