I cannot believe that it is March. It seems like just yesterday it was August and I was meeting my new students for the first time! The 3rd 9 weeks is coming to an end and report cards will be coming home soon. I am constantly impressed with each one of my precious students!
This month we will be focusing on…
Reading/Language Arts-using dictionaries to find information and definitions for words. We will also talk about multiple meanings of words and using guidewords to help find words inside a dictionary. We will be reviewing parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns), and learn about r controlled vowels (ar, or, ur/ir/er).
Writing-continuing with our informational and how to writings. We will really be focusing on editing our own papers and revising our writing.
Math- telling time by the hour and half hour, elapsed time, using and understanding graphs, measurement and of course we will continue our "Math Minute" tests weekly!
Science-animals (basic needs, habitats, categorizing)
Social Studies- the life and contributions of Theodore Roosevelt

March 25-First Grade Play!! We will be performing the play Barnyard Moosical. Our class will be the "Gourmet Goats". More information will be sent home about what to wear on the day of the play. All parents are invited!! We will be performing in the cafeteria at 8:30 am.

Continue to listen to your child read each night! This class is awesome at returning the book in a bags every day! WAY TO GO!
