Wow, we are off to a great start and our students have all made a good adjustment back to school. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and it is nice to know that we can recharge our batteries with another week of vacation this month!
Some important dates include:
- Tuesday, 9/7--Sally Foster due
- Saturday, 9/11--East Cobber parade.
- Wednesday 9/15--Fall pictures
- Friday, 9/17--Field trip (3rd grade only)
- Monday, 9/20- Friday, 9/26--Fall Break
- Wednesday 9/29-October 8--Testing
We will be moving forward in Math this month with regrouping in addition and subtraction, elapsed time to the half hour, counting coins and making change, graphs and data, and for 3rd grade and up multiplication facts 0-5. My 4th and 5th graders are expected to know these facts as we are moving on to decimals, long-multiplication and division, and fractions soon. In Literacy the children will continue to focus on sentence structure, capitalization, subject verb agreement, descriptive synonyms, antonyms, and homophones, narrative writing, retelling a story, and summarizing what they have read. I will be sending home an AR goal form in the next week or two.
Parents, thanks for signing your child's behavior log each night and checking their agenda to make sure homework has been completed.
As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
