September is here! We are now in our 2nd month of the school year and the students are well-established in the routines and expectations of our class. I am so proud of their behavior and their efforts to be organized.
Some important dates to remember:
September 25 -- Picture Day
September 14 - 18 -- CoGat and ITBS Testing
Here's a look at what we are doing in class this week:
Math: We are still working on numbers, place value and comparing numbers up to ten-thousands. This week we focused on estimating or rounding numbers and we will move on to addition with 3- and 4-digit numbers. If your child is in inclusion, remember to check their math teacher's blog to see what they are learning.
We are posting Math vocabulary words in our classroom and refer to these daily so that students become more familiar with the terminology used.
Math Vocabulary for August/ September:
Digit, Number, Standard form, Word form, Expanded form, Number line, Sum, Difference, Value, Missing Addend, Pattern
Spelling: Homework comes home every night. On Mondays, please pretest yor child or have them write the words on the blanks on the cover page. We have our Spelling tests on Friday.
Lastly, I hope the packets I gave out on Curriculum Night were helpful. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
