OCTOBER
NEWS FOR OCTOBER
- Word Ladders - These will occasionally be in the homework packet. The students will not be able to complete them alone. They asked for them to be in the packet because they thought it would be fun to work the puzzle with a parent. The next one will have a "word bank" attached and should make it easier.
- Reading Comprehension - We are starting a new "project." Each Wednesday your child will bring home an activity that must be completed with an adult. Please read the letter that accompanies each activity. I am so excited about trying this. I can't wait to see the positive results that the children will gain from this.
- October 3rd, Friday -Movie on the Mount night!!!
- October 8th, Wednesday - Funk Heritage Museum field trip day!!!
- October 15th, Wednesday - Early Release
- October 17th, Friday - Report Cards Go Homet Today!!!!

- Social Studies - Essential Question: How is the life of the Cherokee and Creeks similar and different from our life today?
- Writing - Essential Question: How can I describe events through a narrative writing?
- Math - Essential Question: What strategies can I use to solve two-digit addition and subtraction? How can I make change using coins?
- Parents - Thank you so much for all you do for our kids and our classroom. You are awesome resources to have! I can't wait for the mystery readers to come to our room. Please feel free to "dress" for the part or add anything to your reading that you need to.
- Wish List - Thanks for the colored paper and plastic notebook sleeves. This month our classroom could use post-it notes and extra snacks. We play different games using the post-it notes and we go through them quickly.
Enjoy this beautiful Fall weather! This month is so busy and we are learning so much! Your children are doing a great job with self-control and seem really eager to grow and learn new things. We have a saying that we say almost everyday, "TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW!" So, when you ask them what they learned today, they shouldn't say "Nothing" or "I don't know." They should know something new!!
