- The third grade team has entered practice tests on the online practice site. Please click on "Teacher Created Tests" after logging in. If you've misplaced the directions for logging into the site, please let me know. I'll be glad to send again. I would like all children to do the tests anytime before or during Spring Break. CRCT begins the Tuesday following Spring Break.

- Boosterthon will be in our hearts and minds through the 16th! We're looking forward to having fun and emphasizing character traits while we raise funds for the Foundation. Thanks to the foundation, we have our incredible Computer Lab teacher, Jackie Fine.
- We will be busy the next two weeks with end of quarter assessments.
- We will complete our Economics unit, learn about preventing disease that could harm our hearts and lungs in Health, and learn about the major rivers in our country. As you can see, we'll be busy!
- I'm hoping all the kids will make their Accelerated Reader goals this quarter. I'm doubling the checkbook bonus as an incentive. The real payoff comes in improving your child's reading level. Thanks for your support!
- In Math we will explore calculating the area of polygons this week, and review elapsed time and counting back change before our end of quarter assessment.
- In Language Arts we'll finish our study of text features by completing journal booklets that will go in the student portfolios. Skills we continue to work on are verbs and quotation marks.
- We are almost finished with the Georgia Animal Reports. The students have done fantastic work! I will be sending home their drafts and research notes within next few weeks. We'll proudly display the reports outside our classroom and save a copy for portfolios.
- Later in the month we look forward to the "High Touch, High Tech" programs on heat and magnets, which we'll be studying in Science. Please return the payment for these programs and April field trip if you have not already done so.
- Our 4th quarter emphasis in Writing will be "Persuasive Writing". I think you'll see that your children are very good at persuading!
- Math for the 4th quarter will focus on multiplying by the "partial product" method and long division.
- In Language Arts / Social Studies we'll focus on the lives of three more famous Americans: Lyndon Johnson, Thurgood Marshall, and Cesar Chavez.
- HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! The children can tell you why I love St. Pat's Day, even though the leprechauns don't visit 3rd grade. (Those traps they build in 1st grade scared them all away!)
