I can hardly believe March is here and we are quickly approaching the fourth nine weeks! I hope you all had a fantastic winter break even though it felt more like spring! Here is a look at what is going on this month.
THIS MONTH
Reading/Language Arts-We will be fosucing on using dictionaries to find information and definitions for words. We will also talk about multiple meanings of words and using guide words to help find words inside a dictionary. We will be reviwing parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns), and learn about r controlled vowels (bossy r).
Writing-We will be writing realistic narratives. We will focus on sequencing events and adding details to tell a story.
Math-We will continue to work on telling time and practice elapsed time. We will also review graphing and begin a unit on measurement using non-standard and standard units of length.
Science-We will begin a unit on animals. We will focus on animal types and the needs of animals.
Social Studies- We will study the life and contributions of Theodore Roosevelt.
IMPORTANT DATES
Monday March 7-Boosterthon Pep Rally for students. Information will come home about this fun fundraiser to support the foundation.

March 18-School Pictures
March 25-First Grade Play!! We will be performing the play Barnyard Moosical. Our class will be cows so information will be sent home about what to wear the day of the play. All parents are invited!! We will be performing in the cafeteria at 8:30. More information will be sent home soon!
