Welcome to December!!

 

This month we will be concluding the second nine weeks of second grade. We will study shapes, practice responding to literature, and learning about energy.

 The book report for this month is a little different. Students are to write about one tradition that their family has during the holidays and share with the class. I have sent the instructions home in red folders, but will download the file below for your reference.

This month we will be learning about: Responding to literature,

In social studies we will learn about James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, and Mary Musgrove.

In math we learn to make change, time to the minute, and subtraction with regrouping.

10th- Thanksgiving lunches

October is here!

August/September Blog

Welcome back!!

 Thanks for a great start to the school year. Below is the power point that was shown on curriculum night if you were unable to attend. Also, I have downloaded the homework for September. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Be looking for the book report letter which will be coming your way shortly. The month of September is a character paper bag project! The children will go to the library this week to find books to bring home.

It's May and we have almost made it!

We have a lot of fun activities planned for the last few days of the school year.

Please join us for the May 23rd end of the year celebration from 1-2 on the playground.

Also, our AR celebration in scheduled for May 16th during lunch.

Be looking for student's items such as workbooks, supplies,and portfolios that we will be sending home the week of May 16.

I would like to extend a husge thank-you to Laura Shutt for helping out this year as our class room mom.

Also, thanks to Tammie Clemons for assisting with the end of the year party preparations.

Spring is here!

 I can't believe it is the last 9 weeks of this school year!

We will be studying life cycles and raising butterflies as well as learning about the life of Jimmy Carter and his accomplishments.

 The scheduled book report for April is a biography timeline which we will be completing in guided reading groups.

Dates to remember:

April 12- 18th CRCT testing days- the building is closed to visitors

April 15th- Deadline for turning in signed registration forms

Spring is almost here!

The month of March will be full of fun activities. The end of the third nine weeks is March 18th. Look for report cards to follow.             .

Thanks for all that read and turned in the Six Flags logs. The information has been processed and tickets should be coming soon.

Second grade Friends Play will be held March 4th at 8:15.

March 7th is our Boosterthon Rally.

Also, don't forget about our character walk on March 8th.

The Boosterthon Fun Run is set for March 16th and the 18th is Spring picture day!!!

March 25th is Family Fit night.

Looking forward to a great month of learning.

February

February

This month in math we will be studying fractions, 3 digit addition and subtraction, measurement, and place value through the thousands place.

 We continue with our non-fiction text unit and expository writing. The children are working on publishing their All About Animal Books.

We will begin our space unit the week of 2/7 and will focus on stars, the sun, day and night, and moon phases.

The follwing are some important dates this month:

Valentine's Day exchange: Monday 2/14- A letter will be coming home the week of 2/7 with class list and information about the exchange.

STAR LAB field trip: February 18th

Spaghetti night: February 11th

Holiday Break: 2/21-2/25

The February book report is a character walk. It is so much fun! The letter will be sent home the week of 2/7. It will not be due until March 8th.

We will begin practicing for the Friends play which will be performed by the children on March 4th. The children are learning the songs in music right now. Be looking for more information  soon.

Please consider having your child participate the Heroes essay contest.Information was sent home this week.
