AS THE SCHOOL YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE I WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT THIS SCHOOL YEAR. IT HAS BEEN A JOY AND A PLEASURE WORKING AT MOUNTAIN VIEW SURROUNDED BY DEDICATED STAFF MEMBERS AND ADMINISTRATION ALONG SIDE A WONDERFUL COMMUNITY OF PARENTS!

THIS PAST MONTH WE WENT ON A FIELD TRIP TO THE FIRE STATION. WE LEARNED ABOUT WHAT OUR FIRE FIGHTERS DO TO KEEP US SAFE AS WELL AS MORE ABOUT THE PLACE THEY LIVE AND WORK IN 24 HOUR ROTATIONS. HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF OUR TRIP!

April is here and Spring Break is less than a week away. Please be reminded we will be out for Spring Holidays April 7th-11th. We have many exciting events this month so please remember to check your child's monthly calendar found in their daily communication notebook.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION will be Wednesday, April 2nd~ DON'T FORGET TO COME TO MOUNTAIN VIEW AND REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR KINDERGARTEN IF APPROPRIATE!

We will be learning about bugs and insects this month while reading the books: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "I Love Bugs" and "Butterfly, Butterfly." Don't forget to continue checking your child's notebook daily for teacher notes and/or work to complete at home.

THE MONTH OF MARCH WELCOMES NAN OLSON! Jan_05_2008_100_3

I AM PLEASED TO WELCOME NAN TO OUR WONDERFUL CLASSROOM! NAN IS OUR SECOND PARAPROFESSIONAL AND WILL BE HELPING SUSIE AND I ON A DAILY BASIS. SHE HAS RECENTLY JOINED US (MARCH 3RD) AND IS ALREADY 'MESHING' WONDERFULLY WITH OUR BOYS! AS THE MONTH PROGRESSES AND NAN BECOMES MORE FAMILIAR WITH OUR CLASS, SHE WILL BE TAKING OVER SOME OF OUR JOBS AND HELPING IN AREAS THAT WERE DIFFICULT FOR ONLY TWO OF US TO TACKLE. SHE WILL BE SENDING A LETTER HOME TO EACH FAMILY INTRODUCING AND TELLING A LITTLE ABOUT HERSELF IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS~KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED.

THIS MONTH WE WILL BE LEARNING AND TALKING ABOUT TRANSPORTATION AND 'COMMUNITY HELPERS.' PLEASE CONTINUE TO CHECK YOUR CHILD'S NOTEBOOK DAILY AS WE WILL HAVE A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES THIS MONTH RELATED TO OUR THEME OF 'ALL AROUND THE TOWN.'

FEBRUARY IS HERE~

February is here and it is time to start thinking and planning for summer activities that will keep your children engaged. A book of summer camps and activities for children with special needs typically goes out to all Special Needs Preschool teachers in March. As soon as I receive the copy provided to us through Preschool Special Education, I will make a copy for those of you who are interested. You will also begin hearing from me to schedule your child's IEP Review or IEP amendment to address placement options for the 2008-2009 school year. Please keep checking your child's notebook daily to make sure you keep up to date on activities that are going on in the classroom as well as to sign and/or respond to a note I have written or sent home.

Important dates to remember this month are:

*Wednesday, February 6th- Early Release

*Thursday, February 14th- Valentines Day

*Monday, February 18th- President's Day- NO SCHOOL

*Tuesday, February 19th- Student Holiday

*Friday, February 22nd- Progress Reports

November Fun and Food

"Hi" to all and thank you for visiting! Can you believe Thanksgiving is around the corner and we are already past the twelve week mark! Wow...how time flies when you are learning, growing and sharing together!

We want to welcome all the new children and families that have entered our Special Needs Preschool Program in the past month. We currently have seven enthusiastic and energy-filled boys in our class and are quickly growing in numbers! Thank you to all of those involved for making the transition smooth and for welcoming our new students with 'opened arms!'

FALL IS COMING~OCTOBER

   I hope everyone is enjoying the new season which is upon us! Within the past month we have been learning about the season of Fall in combination with 'THE FARM' and the ANIMAL'S that live there. We have learned many new concepts and vocabulary pertaining to 'THE FARM.' We have read some fun, interactive books that engage the children such as "Open Up the Barn Door" and "When the Leaf Blew In." Thank you Mrs. Susie for all the creative and exciting art activities we have completed this month to help us learn more about our theme!

   In October our themes will be: 'FALL' and 'HALLOWEEN': Below is a list of the books we will be using each week to help us learn more about these concepts!

'ALL ABOUT ME'

    As we begin our second month of the new school year, I am eager to continue watching these special and sweet children learn and grow everyday! In August we focused on a "Back to School" theme while reading the books "If You Take a Mouse to School" and "The Wheels On the Bus." This month we will begin with an "All About Me" theme focusing on 'Daily Routines' and 'Body Parts.' We will then end the month as we begin exploring the exciting unit/theme of FARM and FALL.
