We are entering the fourth week of school this first week of September. The kids are adjusting quite well to the new routine. A few things to remember:
- Sign your child's agenda and reading logs every night. Each student is required to read a minimum of 6 books each nine weeks. The book has to be on their reading level. They also need to respond in their reading response journal each night, Monday through Thursday. We are in the fourth week and many students have not completed one book! Please encourage your child to read each night.
-We will be having our first science test this Friday the 9th! Study guides and science journals went home Friday along with their science books. Please help your child study each night just a little so they will be prepared.
-Last week we sent home your child's scores on their multiplication fact tests. Each morning they have the opportunity to take the tests that they need in order to master that table. Students need to let us know when they are ready to take a test and many have not done so. At the end of the nine week grading period, the average of all of the tables' scores will be recorded as a test grade. Please work with them on these at home as everything we do in math in 4th grade will require multiplication!
-If a student does not have homework assignment for the day, it needs to be turned in the next day! It must be turned in even if it is late.
-If a student is absent, all of the makeup work will come home the day they return. It all needs to be completed in the amount of days that they were absent. Example: Absent 2 days, missed work due in 2 days.
-On Thursday night, give your child the practice test on the back of the homework packet. It is part of their homework and please remember to initial it.
I know this sounds like a lot, but it's just part of being a 4th grader. We appreciate all of your help and support in helping 4th grade be a successful year for your child!
