October
Hello! As we begin October, we are coming to the end of the first 9 weeks. We have had a very productive first quarter! We have learned all about maps, globes, communities, and matter in science and social studies. In reading we have talked about story retelling, making connections to stories and text, questioning text, inferring information, reading with expression, and making predictions. In math, we have learned about one and two digit addition strategies, graphing, estimating, place value, money, and venn diagrams. In spelling we have studied many different spelling patterns, such as irregular vowels, contractions, compound words, digraphs, and "outlaw" words. And lastly, in writing we have used the writing process to write about rollercoasters, and our trip to Turner Field, used thinking maps to organize our thoughts, and written sticker stories and book reviews. As you can see, we have been very busy!! All of the students are having a great time learning and experiencing everything each day. We truly have a great class!!
As we near the end of the quarter, please don't hesitate to let me know of any questions or concerns that you have. I would be happy to set up a conference to let you know of your child's progress. Also remember, we will be holding formal conferences in January.
