This week, we are learning about:  I  is for Igloo and Ice,  Letters & Sounds, Short and Long Vowels,  Author/Illustrator, Retelling Stories, Sorting letters/words/sentences, Rhyming, Describing Words, Months, Days of the Week, Seasons ,Opposites,  Numbers/Number Words 0-20, Ordering & identifying #’s to 100, 100^th Day of School, Money-students should be able to recognize a penny, nickel,dime, quarter & know their value, Living/Non Living

Please Initial	Behavior	Homework
Mon.		Please remember to return books in a bag each day. Poetry folders are sent home on most Fridays and should be returned on Mondays.
Tues.		I apologize for not getting the math section below marked off last week. If your child has already mastered these skills, please work with them on counting change to 50 cents.
Wed.		Math: Your child has mastered: Identifying And Value of Nickel Identifying And Value of Dime Identifying And Value of Quarter 5 pennies = 1 nickel 10 pennies = 1 dime
Thur.		If your child has not mastered 100% of these math skills, please practice nightly.
Fri.

Important Dates-Parents, please remember to send a healthy snack each day. We are having several children each day with no snack or a snack that they do not like.

Tuesday, Feb. 1—Field trip to Puppetry Arts. If you have not sent in your money and permission slip please do so tomorrow. Remember to have your child wear their purple “Kindergarten” shirt. Also, send a large breakfast snack for your child to eat around 9 am. We will not have lunch until around 12:45.

Dear Families,

Our newsletter looks a little bit differently this week—I have several things to share with you.

1. We started book in a bag again today. Please be sure to read the books with  your child each night. Even if you do not read the books, please return the books and bags each day—we use these same books in our reading groups and do not have extras.

2.Mountain View Bingo night is this Friday, January 21 at 6:30. Please see the lime green flyer in the folder today so that you may pre-order dinner for your family.

3.Field Trip-yes, the time has finally arrived. We are preparing to go on our first “real” field trip. We will be attending “There’s a Dinosaur in the Closet!” at the Center for Puppetry Arts on Feb. 1^st. Please return the signed permission form along with the $13 by Friday, January 28^th. If we do not collect enough money, our field trip  may be cancelled.

4. Today, your child is bringing home a bright orange Six Flags Reading Club form—this may be used in place of our regular reading log until Feb. 28^th.  Please follow the directions on the form so that your child may earn a ticket to Six Flags.

Wed.		Please practice counting by 5’s and 10’s to 100 each night. Also, if your child cannot quickly recite the days of the week, months of the year, and seasons
Thur.		please practice nightly as well. I will be assessing this again next week.
Fri.		Technology: www.starfall.com  January Calendar & Snowman activity.

 

**This Friday we will have a special cooking project. We will make snowball treats!
