End of the Year

Hello Parents!

The year is coming to an end and way to fast! Just wanted to let you know of a few exciting upcoming events soon and for the last week of school!

·       Wednesday, May 14th is Field Day. Please wear you class shirt.

·       On Thursday, May 15th and Friday, May 16th, we will have a

Camp

Out

and doing several activities to go along with this theme. Your child may bring a towel and animal.

·       On May 19th we will be doing Mexico Centers.

·       On May 20th, we will be having our class awards. Please join us at 12:30-1:00.

·       On Wednesday 21st, we will be enjoying a Game day! Please send in any favorite puzzles and games.

·       On Thursday May 22 st, we will be having our end of the year party at 12:00 and movie/ popcorn in the morning! We are celebrating with ice cream sundaes and lots of first grade memories. We would love for you to join us!  Hope to see you there!

This has been a fantastic year and a great class! Thank you so much for all your support. I would especially like to thank my wonderful room moms and all the parents who helped this year.

March News

This month, we will be focusing on preparing for the CRCT. Please be sure that your child is taking the practice tests on the computer. Practice, Practice, Practice! Also, in March, we will be learning all about plants, money, animals, and starting an author's study.

A few dates to remember are:

March 4th- Early Release

March 17th- Leprechuan traps are due...more details to come!

March 20th- Report cards going home

March 27th: International Night Activities 6-8pm, Silent Auction to raise money for technology. Mrs. Kurtz, Mrs. O’Connor, and I will be auctioned off and will be doing some cooking at my house. Please bid on a chance for up to 6 children.

March 29th- Movie on the Mount. NEW DATE

Hi Everyone, I can't believe we are getting ready to Celebrate Valentine's Day. We are also working so hard on making our class book titled One Night When It Snowed..... If you haven't returned the form and payment please do so right away.In addition, we are diving into our new math unit on MONEY. Please remember to take a on-line CRCT test. Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a great holiday. Thank you for the generous class gift and all the goodies!!!!.

This month we will be studying addition and subtraction facts to 20, fractions, time, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and informational writing. Wow!

I hope everyone has noticed that our special schedule has changed due to the addition of a computer lab teacher, Ms. Newhouse. Thank you Foundation!! The students will begin learning keyboarding skills as she reinforces our Georgia Performance Standards.

Conference week will be Jan. 22-28. I look forward to meeting with you.

Novermber Is Here!!

Math:  In math we are working with 2 and 3-D Geometric Figures, Addition and subtraction Facts to 12, and word problems.

Br-r-r-r!  We are really noticing the cooler weather at recess time.  Please remember to send students with outerwear that is appropriate for the temperature.  Please mark all outerwear labels with your student’s name!

We are in need of some extra snacks and items for the Cushman Store. If you care to donate, I would greatly appreciate it. J

Science:   What fun we are having learning all about the weather. Our weather reporters have done a fabulous job! The upcoming unit is on sound, pitch, volume, and vibration.

We have been learning about signs of fall and enjoying the beauty of the season. Her are the themes we are learning about:

Writing:   We are continuing to develop consistency with capitalization, punctuation, correct spelling of core words and complete sentence formation in our narrative writing.  Our work also includes using the writing process. Pre-writing, Writing, Revising, Editing, and Publishing.
