May 5th- Happy 80th Birthday Mountain View!!

May 6th- Going to the zoo! Please wear class shirts...

May 9th- Animal Research Projects due! I can't wait to see them! All books due to the library...

May 12th- AR Picnic

May 14th- Field Day! Wear class shirts!

May 20th- Awards Day...Hope to see you here! More details to come!

May 22nd- End of the year celebration

May 23rd-Last Day of school! :)

A Look at April!

Spring Has Sprung!

April's here and with it comes bees, flowers, birds and the CRCT test!!! :)  PLEASE be sure that you are taking the practice tests online as the CRCT is rapidly approaching.  The dates will be April 23-25. We're working so hard in here and we really appreciate all the work you've been doing at home. :)

Here's what else we'll be working on this month:

Math: 3 digit addition, (8+1+2) measurement with nonstandard units and review, review, review!!!!

Science: animals (their basic needs, classifying them, body coverings, how they move and where they live)

Important dates:

April 7-11: SPRING BREAK!! Yeah!

April 23-25: CRCT!!!

Silent Auction!

Our school silent auction is coming up on March 27th...  Mrs. Clatterbaugh, Mrs. Wolsh and I have teamed up to be auctioned off...  we will be auctioning a "Sundae" party...  :)  Come bid on us and help out our foundation! It will be lots of fun!

This month, we will be focusing on preparing for the CRCT. Please be sure that your child is taking the practice tests on the computer. Practice, Practice, Practice! :) Also, in March, we will be learning all about plants, money, animals, and starting an author's study.

Wow! Is it really already February?! This month, we will be learning all about money, time, dental health, shadows and light, informational writing, and continuing to become incredible readers! Happy 2008!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe winter break! We will be very busy in January! We will be starting to work with addition and subtraction facts to 18, fractions, shadows and light, money, synonyms, weather, and writing informational paragraphs! WOW!

Don't forget that we have no school on the 21st and January 22nd- 28th is Conference week! Each day will be an early release day. If anyone could send in Clorox wipes or dry erase markers, it would be greatly appreciated!  Also, to start our year off fresh, please send in an extra box of crayons for your child. Thanks so much!

Diving into December!!!

We have lots of fun celebrations and activities planned for December! I am so excited to let you know that everyone has made the AR wall! They have really worked so hard! Read, Read, Read!!!!

December 3rd- AR Picnic!

December 6th- World of Coke

December 14th- We will be creating gingerbread houses! Please come join us!

December 17th- Canada Rotation- we will be visiting other first grade classrooms to learn many new things about Canada.

December 20th- Winter Celebration! More details to come! :)

December 21st- Sing-a-long for all the Mountain View students! Wear your favorite PJ's!

This month, we will be learning all about magnets, Canada, homophones, patriotic symbols, verbs, addition and subtraction facts to 12, greater than and less than, and positional words.
