February will be another very busy month! The January book reports were wonderful! Students made dioramas, created puppet shows, wrote letters and advertisements! I can tell that they enjoyed reading their books and they had fun doing this project!
The students learned a lot about staying safe from the fire fighters at the Safety Village! The students had hands on practice with safety skills at this beautiful facility! Please ask your child what he/she learned.
Thanks so much to Mrs. Caimano for volunteering to teach the class Jr. Achievement! The students are enjoying the lessons about our community.
Most students are doing a great job with the online homework assignments! Please remember that homework must be turned in at the end of each week. 5 activities should be completed each week, one from each content area. Some students are not turning in any writing assignments. One piece of writing should be turned in each week. Each assignment should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete. Please let me know if your child takes longer to complete their homework. These assignments cover skills we have studied this month, or they are a review of skills covered during this year. I have reviewed each assignment with the students.
Here are some of the Georgia Standards that we will learn this month:
Math- fractions, 3-digit addition and 3-digit subtraction with regrouping- this is a very difficult skill and review at home would be very helpful.
Reading- reading nonfiction books, research information about animals, learn the purpose and characteristics of nonfiction books and writing, Book In The Bag continues. Information about the February book report has been sent home. Students will read a book and dress up as a character from their book. We will have a Charcter Book Walk on February 28th.
Language Arts- writing a nonfiction animal report, using capital letters & correct punctuation marks, suffixes, identifying subject and predicate parts of a sentence, dictionary skills, using a glossary & index
