The September book reports were great! The students were very creative with their puppets. The class enjoyed hearing about all the great books. This is a great way to show students all the different genres and to encourage them to read different kinds of books.
Thanks to all the parents who helped the class make the edible maps of Georgia.Thanks to all the families who provided the needed supplies for this activity. What a fun and yummy way to learn about the regions!
The Boosterthon was a big success! Thanks to all the families who made contributions. The students had fun during the Fun Run! Thanks to all the parents who helped during the Fall Festival. It was a fun day!

Here are some of the Georgia Standards we will learn this month:
Reading- r-controlled vowels, blends, long and short vowel sounds, plurals, reading strategies-making connections, making predictions, generating questions, retelling, inferring and summarizing, antonyms, synonyms, and homophones. Students will get new Books in the Bag every Thursday. Students keep the book for a week because they should practice some of the activites that are on the sheet inside the bag. These activites will help students improve their comprehension, decoding skills and fluency. The October Book report is completing a story map. Specific directions and information will be sent home the week of Oct.3rd.
Language Arts- 6 Traits of writing, writing process, writing a personal narrative, using a dictionary and a thesaurus.
Science- Matter
Social Studies- Contributions of the Creeks and the Cherokees, and Sequoyah.
Math- Continue with regrouping with addition and counting money to a dollar.

Oct. 24th-28th- Red Ribbon Week
October 25th - October Book Report is due ( Story Map)
