I hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break! The students have been working very hard on their "Bare Books" and they look amazing! We will invite parents to school on the last week so that students can read their "Bare Book" to parents and share their portfolios. Detailed information will be sent home in May.
Biography Timelines are due Tuesday, April 19th. I have shown the students several examples in class and we did one together in class. Please follow directions and include 5 events about the person's life with the date and a sentence and a picture for each event.
FYI- April 12th- 18th- CRCT for 3rd- 5th grade. No visitors will be allowed in the building until testing is finished for the day. Our schedule has changed during this time Lunch- 10:33-11:03 specials- 11:30-12:00
I am prepairing students for 3rd grade so we are really working on positive classroom behaviors this month. Students are using self control, raising hands to talk, not talking during instruction, paying attention to instruction, completing all classwork, and staying seated during instruction. Please ask your child about their classroom behavior and which behavior they need to improve.
Here are some of the Georgia Standards we will learn this month:
Math- telling time to the nearest minute, making arrays, repeated addition, multiplication , reading a multiplication table, graphs, making groups, division.
Language Arts- Reading biography books, Timelines, Book In The Bag continues through this month, last book report( Biography Timeline), reading books that persuade, writing a persuasive paragraph, finishing "Bare Books", diphthongs, possessives, irregular vowel patterns, and practicing reading strategies: making connections, making predictions, questioning, inferring, summarizing, retelling, and compare & contrast a variety of texts.
Science- Life Cycle of Plants
Social Studies- Contributions of Jimmy Carter, ways goods & services, are allocated and spending & saving money.
