March is going to be another busy month for us! The students are very excited about the Friends' Play on Friday, March 4th at 8:15 a.m. We hope that parents will be able to come and enjoy the play and the great songs!
Thanks again for all the wonderful cards, gifts, & flowers I received for Teacher Appreciation week. I truly appreciate your kindness.
Here are some of the Georgia Standards we will learn this month:
Math- 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping,measuring, review using graphs, tables, charts, and review counting money and making change to $10.00. Please help your child review subtraction with regrouping and counting money and making change, as these are two difficult skills for students to master.
Reading- Book In The Bag continues, Great Readers read to learn- The focus of this 9 weeks is to create an understanding of the purposes, types, features, and structure of nonfiction text in order to understand the text, read & research facts fron nonfiction animal books.
Language Arts- Grammar skills :dictionary skills, using a glossary & index, using quotation marks, subject part & predicate part of a sentence, review using correct capitalization & punctuation in sentences, and review homonyms,homographs,synonyms, and antonyms. Students will also write their own "Bare Book" about an animal that they have researched using books and apporved websites in the classroom.
Science- We will continue with our unit on space. We will do some fun experiments with shadows, night & day, & the phases of the moon. Ask your child how we used oreo cookies to show the different phases of the moon.

March 2nd- Jr. Achievement lesson with Mrs. Preston
March 4th- Friends' Play- 8:15 in the cafeteria
March 8th- Character Book Walk- students will dress up as a character from a book they read - detailed information was sent home
March 14th-18th- students will be taking assessments for the 3rd nine weeks
March 18th- Spring pictures, this is a full school day for students
March 18th- end of the third nine weeks
march 24th- Report cards sent home
March 30th- kindergarten registration
