Can you believe that we are about 4 weeks from the end of school? This year has gone by so quickly. There are a number of things, I need for you to put on your calendars. We would like to invite you to our classroom on May 21 for our Author's celebration. Our Bare books will be completed as well as our portfolios for the year. The children are excited about sharing them with you! Field Day is May 14th !Awards will be done differently this year. I will let you know details. Our year end celebration is being planned by our wonderful room mothers. The last day of school is May 23. Priscilla Keller has done a fantastic job of teaching our students about Jr. Achievement. I don't think I have ever looked forward to Spring more!! The cold weather has been around much too long for me. Of course it also means busy, busy, busy!! Mark your calendars for March the 27th. It is our Multicultural Arts week and Thursday night is also our Silent Auction. Mrs. Holton, Mrs. Bergeron and myself plan on an afternoon of cooking and Dance, Dance, Revolution. More info will follow. Starlab is Wednesday and part of our Space unit. We are reviewing for CRCT and of course looking forward to Spring Break. Please keep working on those Math Facts and read with your child everyday!! Mrs. Babbit

I am thrilled with a few warm days. I don't know when I have been so excited about Spring being around the corner! February is already fiiling up with activities. Early release is Wednesday. January

My holidays were wonderful and it sounds like your's were also!! We will be out again on the 21st for the Martin Luther King holiday and conferences will begin the following day. I have scheduled the January book report, Readers's Choice for the 31st.  Fire Safety is also on our schedule. Energy and motion will be our Science unit and Fractions in Math! Another busy month! December

During the next two weeks, we are finishing our Colonial Unit. We are reading the Nutcracker and other holiday books and making a friendship quilt. Instead of a book report, I have asked the children to write  three paragraphs on family traditions. I am especially looking forward to being with my family during the holidays and know you are too. November

Hi Everyone!! I know you have a lot going on this month. The children are out of school on the 5th and 6th , Scholastic book orders are due on the 7th. If you would like for me to keep your books for a holiday gift, I will be glad to. I will be sending a December order form in a few weeks, also. It has been a while because of the Book Fair, and the children are excited. We will have a Colonial Dress Up Day on the 20th. Due to the Thanksgiving holidays, there will be no school on the 21st, 22nd, and the 23rd. Last, the November book report will be a Book Talk on the 29th. Info sent home on the 2nd regarding this. October

October is a month full of fun, outdoor avtivities. We begin with picture day on the 18th,and Fall Festival on Saturday, October the 20th from 12:00-3:00. Our Book Fair and Red Ribbon Week are during the week of the 22nd. A field trip to Funk Heritage at Reinhardt College is on the 26th. This will relate to our Native American Unit. We are going to a Performing Arts ballet called Firebird the 29th , Harvest Celebration and Halloweeen the 31st. Also Mountain View is having a PJ party and Reading night on the 30th. Whew!!!!! HAVE FUN!

September

September has been a busy month! Don't forget the book reports on the 27th and Turner Field on the 28th. Please help you child study for the weekly math fact quiz on Fridays as well as the words to learn in Spelling every week.Reading for 15 minutes a day is required. This such a sweet class. We are off to a super year! This class is wonderful and anxious to learn new things. Please try to come to Curriculum night on the 28th from 6:30-8:30. I have so many things to tell you about 2nd grade.Please initial agenda nightly, check for notes daily. Graded papers are sent home on Friday, attached to a weekly newsletter.If you send a note, I will respond as quickly as possible. I am still waiting for the red take home folders.
